Lyrical Jazz uses the emotion of the song to tell a story. Students must be enrolled in Ballet and Jazz Foundation classes in order to take lyrical dance.
Lyrical Jazz lets you add personal expression to the music. It incorporates elements of technique and traditional jazz but is much more expressive and intuitive. Often you are creating a dramatic pattern or you’re creating something that is personal to you in a way.
Movements in lyrical dance are characterized by fluidity and grace, with the dancer flowing seamlessly from one move to another, holding finishing steps as long as possible.
Leaps are exceptionally high and soaring, and turns are fluid and continuous.
