Volunteer Information

In order to run our year-end show, we rely on parents to help out with a number of different volunteer positions.  Our show will not run smoothly without your help.  Here is a list of opportunities where your help is needed. (All volunteers will receive an identification badge , which must be worn in the theater at all times. Please do not bring guests, including children, with you while you are volunteering.)

Back of House Positions

Dressing Room Supervisors:  At each show the students stay in the dressing room area of the Bell Centre theatre.  This area is divided into a number of different rooms.  Prior to the show, we assign a room to each class where they will check in once they arrive.  The students do not have to remain in this room the whole time, but this is where they will leave their belongings, extra costume/s, drink, snack, and any personal items they bring.  The dressing room supervisors will have class lists to check off the students as they arrive.  The extra costumes will be hung in show order on a rolling rack in the dressing room, and the supervisor will check with the students to see if they will require any assistance with their costume change.  The costume changes done in the dressing rooms will not be quick changes. All QUICK CHANGES (5 dances or less) take place in our Quick Change  room closer to the stage.

Dressing Room Supervisors are asked to arrive 30 - 40 minutes prior to show time to help check in the students and get any costumes organized.  Supervisors will remain for the whole show, leaving once the students have collected their belongings at the end of the show.

*Please note, you will not be watching this show, so be sure to volunteer for a show other than the one you wish to watch.

Tiny Tot Helpers:  In the dressing room area we have a separate space for our 3 - 5 year old dancers.  In this area we supply colouring books and crayons, a TV with Disney video's, Barbies and "stuffies" for the little ones to play with and a number of story books.  Our parent volunteers not only supervise these children, but will read to them, help with trips to the washroom and any costume changes.  We will also have a few of our senior students who love to sit and play with the children as well.

Tiny Tot helpers are asked to arrive 30 - 40 minutes prior to show time to help check in the students and get any costumes organized.  Helpers will remain for the whole show, leaving once the students have collected their belongings at the end of the show.

Exceptions:  Tiny Tot classes that are in the 1st half of the show willl be allowed to leave at intermission to enjoy the 2nd half of the show, and those in the 2nd half of the show are invited to watch the 1st half of the show and then come backstage during intermission.  More details will be coming for those classes involved.

*Please note, you will not be watching this show, so be sure to volunteer for a show other than the one you wish to watch.

Quick Change Room:  Volunteers will  be required to organize costume changes in an efficient manner.  This position requires some experience, and volunteers must be able to work quickly and efficiently in a fast -paced environment.

Stage Door Monitor:  All parents please be aware that the security of your children is of the utmost concern to us.  Parents are invited to bring their children into the dressing room at the beginning of the show, and then students are not allowed to leave the backstage area, nor are parents allowed backstage during the show at any time.  This is for the security of all our students and your understanding is greatly appreciated.  We will have a monitor posted at the stage door during the show and at intermission to ensure that no  students leave and that no adults enter the backstage area.  Again, this is for the security of all our students.

The Stage Door Monitor will have a  class list, stating who is leaving and who is arriving at intermission time.

* Please note, you will not be watching this show, so be sure to volunteer for a show other than the one you wish to watch.
